Smoothie Making

Today we did some smoothie making.

In the first smoothie we had:
Banana, Strawberry's and Yogurt.

In the second smoothie we had:
Juice, Spinach, Pineapple, Grapes and Yogurt.

In the third smoothie we had:
Chocolate Chips, Strawberry and Yogurt


Reflection:
I think that the third Smoothie was the best (because of the chocolate chips)

Hibernation

All over the world there are animals hibernating. Animals hibernate when food is scarce and to survive. This usually happens in the winter to protect the living thing from the cold.

When an animal hibernates, it’s body goes into a deep sleep for a long period of time and the heart rate, temperature and breathing all drop or slow down. The animals don't just sleep like we do at night time, it’s a deeper and longer lasting sleep.

Bats are the best hibernators, because they have had the world record of 344 days of hibernation! They don't need to eat but they do wake up to drink.

Shark VS octopus

Shark VS Octopus

Did you know that in America there is an aquarium that keeps Sharks and Octopuses in the same tank? Some people would think that sharks would feed on the octopus.

The Octopus can camouflage and squeeze into small gaps. But then a Shark comes over and spots the Octopus. The Octopus grabs onto the Shark with its long tentacles and gets a good grip.The Shark wiggles and squirms trying to escape but can't. The Shark needs to move for it to live. The Octopus kills the Shark.

Did you ever think that an Octopus would be able to kill a shark? Well now you know.

Cross Country

Today we ran Cross Country and it was tiring. Year 5 and 6's ran around the school 3 times and year 4's ran 2 times. I came 9th place and I am happy about it because this is the same place as I came last year. I think that I did really well in Cross Country because I paced myself and did not sprint at the start. It was exciting when the race started because I was coming 4th place.

Genius Hour

A few weeks ago we had 3 fantastic drummers come to our school. They were able to play all kinds of drums even drums from the Pacific Islands.

 

 

In the afternoon we had workshop where we all got to learn different beats and drum together in time. It was great fun and REALLY loud!!

A few days ago my Dick King-Smith group did slides for ANZAC day. On google drawing I drew poppies using ovals, circles, rectangles and more shapes. Here it is

Six sentence story

Today we did six sentence story's and this is one of mine

Six sentence story

1.Introduce the main character	Once upon a time there was a dog named Gus.
2. Describe where the character lives	He lived in a small house in the back yard.
3.Describe the characters special talent	His special talent was farting and making his family leave the room.
4.Describe the character’s problem	He chased a cat then the cat jumped a fence and he thought he could jump the fence too, after he did it he hurt his leg and farted really badly.
5. Tell why the character felt this way.	He felt bad because he hurt himself and couldn't go to doggy day care and be with other dogs.
6. Tell how the character solves the problem	He solved this problem by staying in bed and kept resting his leg.

• Te Reo-I need to learn maori and practise more often and maybe at home
• Oral Language-I need to participate and contribute by sharing my ideas
• Poetry-I want to be able to do good poetry and make seem as if i got it out of a book
• Art-I want to get better and do more art and that would make me better
• Swimming-I want to get better at swimming by practicing more often and joining in
• Inquiry-I would like to get better at genius hour and get more information about Jackson Pollock

The Mud Run

On Wednesday 7th June a few students went to the Mud Run. I ran 7'k in mud mixed with cow poo. I kept getting stuck in the mud. some people lost their shoes. After we all ran we had to go into a cold shower before we got to go into the warm shower.

Genius hour

Rosie and I have been doing this thing called Genius hour for art. We have four ideas but we have two main ideas. We have splater paint and we the other thing is about an artist his name is Alex Mcleod.
